During the past two years, Sylvain has been working as a formulation chemist in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.produitslepine.com\/fr\/1\/Page-d-accueil-Lepine\/\">Les Produits Sanitaires L\u00e9pine<\/a> where he developed new household, industrial and institutional soaps and cleaners.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Recipient of a research grant of the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) in 2009, this distinction gave him the chance to make his first steps in a chemistry research laboratory during his bachelor by working on the extraction of new bioactive molecules from a black spruce bark extract (Picea mariana). He also worked in the Universit\u00e9 du Qu\u00e9bec \u00e0 Chicoutimi (UQAC) Forest Research laboratory as a research assistant for some of the most influential scientists in the domain of forest plant biology.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In 2013, Sylvain have graduated from UQAC with a <a href=\"http:\/\/constellation.uqac.ca\/2628\/1\/030578195.pdf\">Master in natural product chemistry<\/a>. During his master, he had the opportunity to work on the extraction and caracterisation of new molecules found in balsam fir oleoresin (Canada balsam).\u00a0His work has allowed him to collaborate by writting two scientific articles published in <em>Beilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry<\/em><sup>1<\/sup> and in <em>Organic Letters<\/em><sup>2<\/sup>.
