Scientist by Nature
More Than Just Analysis: Expert Advice…
More than just a laboratory, we are a flexible partner adapting our expertise to your ambitions, from ideation to commercialization. We offer clear guidance on your results and processes, while assisting you with complex regulatory procedures such as those required by Health Canada. For specific needs, we act as a bridge to other qualified professionals within the Chemia Group to ensure the overall success of your project.
Services
The world of natural product chemistry can be complex. We are committed to supporting our clients to ensure they fully understand the data we provide. Making science accessible is a priority for us.
Essential Oils and Other Volatile Products
Using a database built on over fifteen years of data collection, we can effectively establish the chemical composition of your volatile mixtures.
- Fragrances
- Plants or fragrant derivatives
- Cannabis/Hemp
- Essential Oils
- Hydrosols
Nous procédons à des analyses par chromatographie en phase gazeuse, aussi bien par détecteur à ionisation de flamme que par spectrométrie de masse.
Quality Control and Quantification of Active Compounds and Hemp
We offer analysis for medical cannabis as well as industrial hemp. We provide producers with scientific consulting and third-party analytical services.
- Quantification of various cannabinoids, including THC and CBD.
- Profiling of volatile compounds, including terpenes
- Consulting services for experimental design and research planning
- Consulting for all Health Canada license or permit applications
Fatty Acids
These analyses are performed via titrimetry or gas chromatography.
- Acid, ester, and saponification values
- Quantification of one or more fatty acids
- Fatty acid profile
Natural Health Product Analysis – Quantification of Active Compounds or Markers
For the analysis of Natural Health Products (NHPs), we apply recognized protocols drawn from scientific literature or regulations, such as the USP, the European Pharmacopoeia, or any other monograph compendium recognized by Health Canada for NPN applications. We are also proud to offer method development tailored to your innovative self-care products when no satisfactory method already exists.
- Quantification of compounds in a plant extract or finished product
- Comparison of a chemical profile against literature or a reference
- Identification of a reference substance within an unknown sample
These analyses can be performed via gas chromatography (GC) or high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), depending on the targeted products.
Comparative Studies
PhytoChemia Laboratory can step in even before your product launch. We can help you optimize your extraction and manufacturing methods, select your raw material suppliers, and maximize your products’ effects.
- Comparison of extracts based on extraction methods
- Geographic, climatic, seasonal, or other variability of raw materials
- Scientific-based supplier selection
- Product stability and degradation
- Optimization of cultivation methods
And many other possibilities.
Pre-Analytical Extractions
- Hydrodistillation, steam distillation, or Clevenger for essential oils and hydrosols
- Solvent extractions (Soxhlet, maceration, ultrasound) at experimental scale
- Sample pretreatment
Pesticides, Parabens, and Contaminants
These analyses will be adapted according to product matrix interferences.
- Quantitative analysis performed on up to 182 pesticides in essential oils + Comparison to USP 561
- Certification of paraben absence below a specific detection threshold
- Scientific-based supplier selection
